Terms of Service
Effective date: 2 October 2026
These terms cover your use of the calibrate. app and website. calibrate. is operated by Scott Luengen, trading as calibrate. (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. Please read them with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data.
Your account
You must be at least 16 years old to use calibrate.
Give us accurate details when you create your account, and keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@calibrate.coffee if you think someone else has used it.
Your content
Your brew logs, tasting notes, ratings, and the coffees, recipes and equipment you save are yours.
You give us permission to store, copy and process that content to run calibrate. for you: to show it to you, keep it in step across your devices, and back it up. This permission ends when you delete your account, except for the anonymised brew records described in our Privacy Policy. Those are kept, and we may use them in aggregate analysis.
Do not put anything in calibrate. that you do not have the right to share, or that is unlawful.
Using calibrate.
Use calibrate. for logging and improving your own brewing.
Do not interfere with or disrupt the service, or try to get around its security or rate limits. Do not access another person’s account or data. Do not copy, scrape or resell the service or its data, including the roaster catalog. Do not reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Brewing suggestions
calibrate. suggests brew parameters, recipes and adjustments from the data you log. They are starting points, not guarantees. You decide how you brew, and you are responsible for handling hot water and equipment safely.
Roaster names and logos
calibrate. shows roaster names and logos to help you identify coffees. They belong to their owners, and showing them does not mean any roaster endorses or partners with calibrate. Our roaster logos & attribution policy explains how a roaster can ask us to change or remove a logo.
The service
calibrate. is in active development. Features will change, some may be removed, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. calibrate. is free today. If we add paid features, we will tell you the price and terms before you pay anything.
If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not responsible for calibrate. or for supporting it.
Ending your use
You can stop using calibrate. and delete your account at any time from account settings. What happens to your data when you do is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Liability
We provide calibrate. as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties not set out in these terms, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes to these terms, we will tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using calibrate. after that, the new terms apply. The effective date at the top shows the last update.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland have jurisdiction.
